The first Wesleyan services were held in Norfolk in 1917, by the Reverend Daniel Summer.  A room over Albert Crab's hardware store was used as a meeting place.  After the store burned, services were held in the old Post Office.  In 1918 a class of four was organized with Rev. William Osgood as pastor.  When the old post office was sold, services were held in an old theater and then in another rented building.  Later, Sunday School was held at the home of Mrs. Charles Worley, and their evening services in Mrs. Mable Mein's home.

A church was built during the pastorate of Rev. William Osgood, 1920 to 1923.  This building was sold, and the congregational church building was purchased because of it's larger size and better location during the pastorate of Rev. Calvin Stopp.

During the pastorate of Rev., Gerald Hewitt, a parsonage was purchased, and Norfolk became a separate charge from Brookdale.

During Rev. Otto Finch's pastorate, the basement of the church was partially excavated and two Sunday School rooms were constructed.  A Christian youth Crusader club was started by the Rev. Earl Eck.

In the mid 1970s the congregation broke ground for their new Educational Building under Rev. John Granger.  It would provide much needed space for fellowship, Sunday School room and the upstairs would later become the parsonage.

The Norfolk Wesleyan Church has a long and rich history and continues to move forward changing lives for the cause of Christ.
