Darwin's theory assumes that there was a random mutation, and a male calf was born with a pair of horns which gave it an upper hand to take the females, and drive the hornless into extinction.
In fact, the fossil record shows that the evolution of the horns was very gradual. Moreover, horns come in all shapes and lengths. Apparently, the males with the longest horns did not drive the rest into extinction.
We know that the body cells talk to each other (chemical communication). We know that frequent banging results in callus formation. We know that this generates specific by-products (free radicals) particular to that callus and the part of the body it is located. We know that these free radicals are discharged into the blood stream and are diluted in the blood.
We know that these molecules reach the gamete cells in the testicles and the ovaries. We know that these testicular and ovarian cells have receptors that respond to these free radicals. We also know that the free radicals are mutagens. That is, they increase the rate of the mutation in the cells they affect.
Therefore, it makes sense that a long exposure to these mutagens over a number of generations affect the corresponding genes in the sperms or ova, increase the rate of their mutation, and increase the chance of evolution to better meet the challenges of life in one's environment.
Random mutation is caused by mutagens such as the solar radiation (x-ray), metabolic by-products (free radicals), certain petroleum products, certain sythetic chemicals, etc.
Darwinian theory as was stated by Darwin is no longer adequate. Today, we speak of neoDarwinian and neoLamarckian theories. The neoDarwinian theory operates on random mutation, and the neoLaMarckian theory operates on the rate of the random mutation.
This is how the different parts of our body and brain have evolved, and how all plants and animals have evolved from a humble beginning.
