Sandy's Quilt Tips

This is the only square that was salvageable from a quilt that was found in my Aunt’s house.  It contained hand carded wool from the farms' sheep for the batting.  It bunched up since the quilt had been worn out from use, and because it was only tied together, not quilted. I’m glad to have found one corner block, faded, but usable.

These "one blocks" can be used as a small wall hanging, on top of chair backs, on small tables, under glass or tucked in baskets and used anywhere.  The size makes for some interesting uses and places that bigger quilts just can't be used.

This quilt shows off 4 stars of my Grandmothers.  I think the turkey red tips are great.  I used some rose applique, her favorite flower, to help set them off.  The four simple squares set with some old rose cloth, also found in her house, just put it all together.  The white rose and butterfly garnish the quilt without adding more colored ones, which I thought would be too much.

Garnishing quilts with different embellishments is done more today.  You can use anything you want, the choice is yours!
