Got so many quilt magazines?  A blustery winter day (or hot summer day) is great for leafing through them for any projects you would like to do.  Use a computer to note name, issue, page, and material you can watch for when shopping.  A card file is even better since you can carry it with you.  Then when a new magazine comes you can easily keep it up to date.  You should keep a record of all the quilts you do for future generations.  It can be great to show what you've done if you include a photo of each quilt (after kids and until grandkids).

Important for us to remember is constant quilting, sewing, etc., isn't as good for us as getting up at times.  We need to change positions to remain comfortable.  One way is to have more than one project being done.  That way you have a great excuse for another quilt (or whatever) and be sure you move around at the same time!  That way you can be sure of no wasted time since you might put in time quilting or only have time to piece a block.  You get more done.

Need another excuse for making a quilt.  What would happen if you made one quilt that could be tied or machine quilted for donation each year?

My sons wanted their own quilts, so I asked them what they liked most growing up.  They picked the items to applique, each their own.  While the borders were kept to one block, they were free to pick the fabrics.  This made a colorful quilt each their own.

My daughter wanted hers, but as a cat theme.  She designed and picked the fabrics and even found the cat print border.  Her Grandmother found the cat print squares.  She then personalized it more by wanting her four cats appliqued to the quilt.  The big black cat was stuffed to show how big he is.

Because these took so long to finish the tops, (that's the insanity of the quilt bug) my daughters quilt was machine quilted by Lori Nixon.  She did a great job and allowed me to work on more tops.

T hese quilts are only some of those I’ve done over the years, more were made and since sold, given away as presents, used to the point of only rag leftovers, and some still awaiting finishing.  There is only so much time in a day.  With other loves, like making jewelry, cross stitch, and other crafts, and sewing clothes, there will be more added as they are completed.  Hope you enjoy them and if they inspire you, feel free to join the fever of making some yourself! ...
